Our Passion for Pets

Like most people in society, the founders of Misfits & Underdogs Sanctuary had witnessed countless examples where animals are ignored by our fellow humans. The idea that there might be an animal facility where these misfits could find sanctuary seemed like a worthwhile goal to strive towards; so they set out on their journey into creating such a place. Our goal is to help people and animals in need. We strive every day toward making our community kinder and united! As we are a family-owned and operated company, we firmly believe in treating each client as part of the MUS family.

Owner ; Dog Trainer

Alliena "Nina" Westleigh

I am a Virginia Beach Native. I truly love working with animals. My goal by starting this company was to be able to make animal services affordable for all. I am a certified dog trainer and I look forward to helping your family with all their needs.

Co-Owner ; Animal Handler

Robert "Bobby" Westleigh

I moved to Virginia Beach in 2014 and shortly after fell in love with a crazy animal advocate. We married in 2015 and the rest is history. I am a full-time diesel mechanic. When Nina approached me to tell me what she hoped to achieve with this company, I just knew we had to do it. I love watching each pet grow in confidence every day.

Assistant Animal Handler

Roland Westleigh

As we are a family-run business. Roland when he is not doing school work, playing Fortnite, or bowling; Is currently apprenticing with his mother to gain a solid understanding of Basic Obedience Training. He also works closely with his father assisting with walks and shuttle services.
