Tegan Pease
Tegan settled in Virginia once her military family became stationed here & has come to love and appreciate Hampton Roads so much that she considers it home. Early on in life, she found solace in books from the library, video games, and in her personal hero, the late Steve Irwin. She wholly embraced his devotion to all animal life and would go on to be for fish what he was for reptiles. For over a decade she helped guide people to love and adore fish life as she did. Working 4 years at a highly esteemed exotic pet store that put the animals first, She loved animals that many others found difficult to care about and relished working with challenging species. Even to this day, she maintains 2 aquatic sets up. Her life is always a kaleidoscope of activities and experiences. This includes working conventions, managing volunteers, planning and organizing social events, cosplay, and even social gaming. She also held several different jobs as she sought to find where she felt she belonged. In her words “How do you truly know where you belong if you do not try everything? How do you know what you are capable of if you don’t at least try?” Her work life and her hobbies would lead to a secondary passion, that being Psychology. She finished her Bachelors in Psychology so as to have an additional tool not only to understand how to motivate people to care and change in regards to animal welfare but also to help create a positive productive work environment in which people can truly prosper and reach their full potential. The call to work with animals never leaves her mind. When she settled into a job as an animal caretaker at a boarding/rescue facility she finally found her calling. She moved on up to become the HR, PR, and Inventory Manager fulfilling a complex role that helps both people and animals in the facility. While there she fell in love with two rescue animals which would then become her own. It is no surprise the animals she loves the most are the ones many others do not. Like the many fish she nurtured, healed, worked with, and then rehomed in the past, neither the looks or the breed matter. Each animal is its own individual, just like people. She resolves to give all life its own chance.
